The company is working on a platform designed to detect proteins at the single-molecule level, an area that has remained difficult to scale despite the transformative impact of PCR on DNA analysis. Proteins.1 says its approach uses magnets and semiconductor photonics to enable cyclic signal amplification for proteins and nucleic acids.
The funding will be used to build out the technology, which is based on research developed at VTT and supported through EU-funded breakthrough projects. The startup is aiming to expand the limits of molecular diagnostics by making earlier disease signals easier to detect.
