Berlin-based neurotech startup Insellar has secured €400,000 in pre-seed funding to develop a patented brain-computer interface aimed at treating treatment-resistant depression.

The round was backed by IBB Ventures, alongside business angels and experts from neurosurgery, psychiatry, and neurotechnology. Founded in July 2025, the company is developing a system designed to modulate brain activity as a potential new approach for patients who do not respond to existing therapies.

Insellar said the funding will support further technology development, the buildout and validation of a functional prototype, preclinical proof-of-concept work, and preparations for clinical development in Europe and the US. The startup also sees potential for the platform in other mental health indications over time.
