Rainbow Crops has raised €9.7 million in fresh funding to expand its work in AI and multiplex genome editing for agriculture.

The round was led by LIFTT and its vehicle LIFTT EuroInvest, with participation from AIF (Agri Investment Fund), PINC, Corteva Agriscience through its Corteva Catalyst investment platform, Maia Ventures, and VIB.

Founded by Giacomo Bastianelli, Rainbow Crops is developing crop genetics using multiplex genome editing, precision breeding, and AI. The company focuses on complex plant traits linked to climate resilience, lower chemical input use, and improved nutritional value.

The new capital will be used to accelerate its AI and genome editing capabilities, support deployment of its platform in key crops, and strengthen scientific and technical teams as the company moves into its next phase of execution.
