Norwegian imaging technology company Muybridge has raised an oversubscribed $16 million Series A round led by Investinor, Fairpoint, Idekapital and RunwayFBU, with additional backing from several Nordic technology founders and operators.

The company develops a software-defined imaging platform that uses compact arrays of 4K sensors and GPU-powered systems to create virtual camera perspectives in real time for sports and live event production. Its technology is designed to replace parts of traditional broadcast camera infrastructure with digitally generated viewing angles.

Muybridge said the new funding will be used to support expansion across Europe and the United States, grow its commercial organisation, and continue development of its platform.

The raise comes after a year of deployment at major sports properties including European football leagues, the US Open and ATP Tour, the NBA, NHL, PGA TOUR, rugby and Premier Padel, reflecting rising demand for new camera perspectives in live broadcast production.
