Immitra Bio, a gene editing startup based in Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland, has closed an upsized CHF 2.4 million pre-seed financing round, the company said on July 21.
The round included CHF 2.25 million from venture capital and private investors, alongside CHF 150,000 in non-dilutive funding. Backbone Ventures led the financing and OCCIDENT co-led, with participation from Another VC, Kickfund, Venture Kick, Zürcher Kantonalbank, FONGIT, ETH Foundation, and select private investors.
Immitra Bio is developing a platform for scalable in-vivo gene editing therapies built around a mutation-agnostic editing approach and a digital target identification platform. Its model is designed to avoid ex-vivo cell manipulation, patient conditioning, and stem cell transplantation.
The company said the new capital will fund preclinical proof-of-concept studies for IB-003, its lead candidate for inherited anemia, while also supporting platform validation, pipeline expansion, additional discovery and validation work, and further refinement of its technology.
