Flare, a Copenhagen-based startup focused on knowledge validation and understanding, has raised €3.6 million in pre-seed funding.

The round was led by 20VC and 20Growth, with participation from ByFounders and angel investors from Stack Overflow, GitHub, Reddit, Meta, Kahoot, HubSpot and Encord.

Flare is building infrastructure designed to help evaluate statements and show what is actually supported, as AI systems generate information at a scale that is increasingly difficult for people to verify manually.

The company’s platform uses transparent, structured systems and collective intelligence to assess claims, targeting a growing need for trust and verification tools in the AI era.

The backing gives Flare early support from investors and operators linked to some of the internet’s best-known knowledge and community platforms, as the startup looks to tackle a problem becoming more urgent as generative AI adoption accelerates.
