Worldmodeldata, a Cambridge-based startup building a database of video game-generated training data for next-generation AI, has raised £7 million in seed funding as it emerged from stealth. The round was led by Iona Star Capital.

The company is focused on supplying data for AI systems designed to understand how environments change over time, with datasets sourced from gameplay in titles built on engines such as Unreal and Unity. Worldmodeldata says it plans to build a library of one million hours of data by the end of 2026.

The seed funding will be used for product development, team expansion and securing data-sourcing agreements, as the company looks to scale its dataset offering for AI and robotics applications.
