Swapfiets has announced the acquisition of urban e-bike brand Dance in a deal backed by Pon Holdings, the mobility group that owns Swapfiets.
The undisclosed transaction adds more than 11,000 e-bikes to the group’s fleet, bringing the total number of subscribed e-bikes on the road to more than 75,000. Following the deal, the company will operate in 45 cities and serve around 280,000 members across its bike and e-bike subscription services.
The acquisition strengthens Swapfiets’ position in European micromobility, with a larger footprint in cities including Paris, Berlin and Hamburg. Dance co-founder and CEO Christian Springub will remain in his role and continue leading the Dance brand under Swapfiets.
Based in Berlin, Swapfiets describes itself as the first Bicycle-as-a-Service company, offering subscription-based bikes through a circular business model.
