Helsinki-based Sono has raised $1.5 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Maki.vc, with participation from Wave Ventures and Failup Ventures, as the company looks to expand its AI-powered phone assistant platform beyond Finland.

Sono, legally known as Closio Oy, develops AI phone assistants for customer service and sales teams. Its technology is designed to automate high-volume call handling and connect with existing business systems so customer interactions can be managed more quickly.

The new funding will be used primarily for product development and international expansion. The company is planning to scale across the Nordics and Europe, with Sweden identified as the next step after its home market in Finland.

Alongside the raise, Sono has also joined Founders House Helsinki, adding to a growing group of early-stage Nordic startups building around applied AI for business operations.
