ReOrbit has received a €4.6 million grant from Business Finland to advance OrbitCloud, the company’s R&D programme focused on secure satellite connectivity.

The Finland-based satellite manufacturer is developing OrbitCloud as a private satellite network that combines Direct-to-Device connectivity for drones and mobile devices with orbital AI inference. The programme is aimed at advanced satellite technology designed to support secure communications and fast intelligence without relying on terrestrial infrastructure.

The funding comes as demand grows across Europe for sovereign communications systems and resilient space infrastructure, particularly for defence and industrial use. ReOrbit says OrbitCloud will support next-generation satellite capabilities for critical operations, building on its work in GEO communications and LEO connectivity.
