Freiburg-based Qurie has raised €2.2 million in seed funding in April 2026 from High-Tech Gründerfonds, Technologie-Transfer-Fonds TT49, and Aepikur GmbH.
Founded in 2026 as a spin-off from Fraunhofer IPM by Dr. Christian Vogel and Dr. Kilian Bartholomé, the startup is developing electrocaloric cooling systems designed to work without compressors, pressure build-up, or conventional refrigerants.
The company’s approach is based on its patented active electrocaloric heatpipe technology, positioning it within a growing push for alternative cooling systems as regulation tightens around traditional refrigerants. The seed financing is expected to support Qurie’s early development as it works to bring the technology closer to commercial application.
