Amsterdam-based Monumental has raised a $32 million Series B round led by Khosla Ventures, with participation from existing investors including Hummingbird and Plural.

The company develops electric, autonomous construction robots that lay brick and mortar using sensors, computer vision, small cranes, and its AI software platform, Atrium. Monumental operates as an autonomous subcontractor, getting paid for completed walls rather than selling robots directly to contractors.

The new funding will be used to expand its hardware and software engineering team, deploy more robots on construction sites across Europe, launch in the US, and broaden the range of construction tasks its robots can handle. The round points to continued investor interest in automation aimed at addressing labor shortages and low productivity in construction.
