Midnight Labs, a Dublin-based startup focused on AI-powered intellectual property protection, has received an undisclosed investment from the Sony Innovation Fund.

The company said the funding will be used to expand its agentic Enforcement Engine, which is designed to detect and remove pirated, manipulated and AI-generated infringing content. The push will focus on growth in the U.S., Japan and wider APAC markets.

Midnight Labs works with entertainment, gaming and content companies, offering automated enforcement workflows for scanning, verification and takedowns, along with legal-grade evidence collection. The company says it has removed more than 2.8 billion pieces of infringing content to date and counts major streaming platforms, podcast networks, talent agencies and executives among its customers.

The investment comes as media and entertainment groups face rising pressure from piracy, deepfakes and synthetic content, making IP enforcement an increasingly urgent area for rights holders and platforms.
