Malmö-based Lightbringer has raised $10 million in Series A funding as it looks to expand into the U.S. and build out its AI-powered patent platform for deep tech companies.
The round was co-led by 6 Degrees Capital and Newion, with participation from existing investors Luminar Ventures and Alliance VC.
Founded in 2023 by Dominic Davies, Lightbringer is developing what it describes as a virtual IP department for startups and SMEs. Its platform uses AI to help companies shape patent strategy, analyse patents, and manage the application process with oversight from patent attorneys.
The company says it has already helped more than 200 deep tech businesses across 17 countries file and manage patents globally, highlighting early demand for software aimed at simplifying a traditionally slow and expensive part of the legal market.
The new funding underscores continued investor interest in AI tools targeting specialised professional services, particularly in areas such as intellectual property where technical complexity and cost remain major barriers for younger companies.
