The financing brings together backers from Europe, the United States and Asia to support the company’s work on nasal spray candidates designed to protect against influenza, coronaviruses and other respiratory viruses. Leyden Labs is developing these programs through its mucosal protection platform, which delivers antibodies directly to the respiratory mucosa.
According to the company, the new capital will be used to advance its programs through clinical development and support global access efforts. Funding from the Gates Foundation will help optimize access to Leyden Labs products in low- and middle-income countries, while the EIC Fund investment was granted through the EIC Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform, or STEP. Invest-NL also participated in the round as an existing backer.
The deal highlights continued investor interest in respiratory virus technologies with potential applications across both seasonal outbreaks and future pandemic preparedness.
