Amadeus has announced plans to acquire IDEMIA Public Security for €1.2 billion, in a deal that would deepen its presence in travel biometrics and digital identity. The France-headquartered company provides biometric and identity services to more than 600 public and private sector customers worldwide.

The proposed acquisition follows Amadeus’ 2024 purchase of Vision-Box and signals a continued push into airport, border, and passenger processing infrastructure. Amadeus said adding IPS would strengthen its ability to connect airlines, airports, hotels, and border systems, as biometric identity becomes a more central part of the travel journey.

IPS employs around 3,300 people globally and brings technology spanning passenger processing, access control, and government-grade biometric identification. Amadeus said the combination could support more automated and secure travel flows, from booking through boarding.

The deal was announced on 29 April 2026 and is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions, with completion expected by mid-2027. An earn-out structure could bring the total consideration to as much as €1.35 billion.
