Gigaton, the London-based AI startup formerly known as Carbon Re, has raised $26 million in Series A funding led by Plural, with participation from 2150, Semapa Next, Planet A Ventures, Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, UCL Technology Fund managed by AlbionVC with UCL Business, and Clean Growth Fund.

The company develops software to help cement manufacturers optimise production, with the aim of lowering both costs and carbon emissions. Gigaton said it has now raised $35 million in total and is not disclosing its valuation.

The new funding will be used to expand the business and hire, as the company looks to grow its presence in one of the most emissions-intensive industrial sectors.
