Munich-based Celsio has raised €1.2 million in pre-seed funding as it looks to address one of Europe’s harder-to-abate industrial energy challenges: process heat.

The startup combines power-to-heat installations with cross-market electricity trading to help industrial customers electrify and optimize heat demand. Celsio says its AI-based system trades the flexibility of heat generation assets on volatile power markets, with the aim of lowering operating costs, reducing emissions, and cutting reliance on gas.

The funding announcement comes as the company reports signed industrial-scale pilot customers, new partnerships, and a growing team. Supporters named in the round include individuals from caesar. and CDTM Venture Capital, alongside angel investors and the teams behind EXIST and DBU Green Startup.

Celsio was founded in Munich and is positioning its technology around the decarbonization of industrial heat, a segment that accounts for a large share of industrial energy demand in Europe and remains heavily dependent on fossil fuels.
