Italian startup Cato has secured 1.6 million EUR in a pre-seed funding round led by the Italian Founders Fund. The company, which specializes in using artificial intelligence to automate public procurement processes, announced the investment as it officially launched its operations. The funding round also saw participation from Heartfelt, Vento, BHeroes, Moonstone, Alecla7, Nova, and a group of over 20 business angels including several Italian founders.

Founded by Andrea Zorzetto and Matteo Bossolini, Cato provides a platform designed to streamline the management of public tenders. The technology automates the drafting of documentation and assists companies in identifying and bidding on opportunities within the public sector. The startup reports that it has been operational for several months prior to this announcement, currently serving over 30 active clients and supporting more than 200 platform users.

The newly raised capital is earmarked for product development and platform enhancements, alongside efforts to scale business operations and expand the customer base. By focusing on the automation of repetitive tasks in the bidding process, Cato aims to improve efficiency for companies navigating complex tender requirements.
