Alesi Surgical, a Cardiff-based surgical technology company, has raised £7 million in a funding round led by IW Capital, with participation from existing investors IP Group and Mercia Ventures.

The company develops the Ultravision smoke management platform for operating theatres, designed to address surgical smoke generated during procedures. The new capital will be used to support international commercial expansion and further development of its regulatory-cleared Ultravision2 platform.

The round comes as scrutiny of smoke control in operating theatres increases, with tighter regulation helping to push the issue higher on hospital agendas. Alesi Surgical is positioning its technology to meet growing demand for solutions that can improve visibility in surgery while reducing exposure to hazardous surgical smoke.
