London-based StudentCrowd has raised £7 million in a Series A funding round led by YFM Equity Partners, with backing from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund II through Mercia Ventures, as it looks to strengthen its data platform for the student housing market.

The company said the funding will be used to build out its data engine for student accommodation, accelerate product development and support international expansion. A key focus will be extending its purpose-built student accommodation data coverage into continental Europe, while also exploring adjacent living sectors such as build-to-rent.

Founded by Paul Humphreys and Pete Sisson, StudentCrowd provides data and insights on the purpose-built student accommodation sector, combining operational market data with verified student reviews. The investment comes as student housing operators and investors face growing pressure around pricing, supply and demand, and shifting student expectations.
