Digital insurance startup Ominimo has closed a €20.1 million Series B round at a $1.6 billion valuation, with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development leading the investment.

The Hungary-based company, which operates across four European markets, said the new funding will be used to speed up its expansion in Europe, launch new lines of business, and support a planned entry into the US in 2027.

Founded just over two years ago, Ominimo said it is approaching one million customers and has surpassed an annualised $350 million in gross written premium. The round marks a notable funding milestone for the European insurtech sector as investors continue to back companies combining insurance infrastructure with software and data science.
