Kodesage has raised $6.6 million in seed funding, in a round led by VentureFriends with participation from Portfolion and angel investors including Christian Szegedy and Mario Götze.

The company develops software for engineering teams working with complex legacy systems, focusing on codebase understanding, documentation, code conversion, test generation, and live system support. Its platform is designed for enterprise environments and can run on-premise, in a VPC, or in air-gapped deployments.

Kodesage said it will use the new funding to accelerate its go-to-market efforts in the US and Europe, while continuing to expand its engineering and product teams.

The raise comes as more enterprises look for ways to modernize older software systems without moving sensitive code and data outside secure environments.
