JUPUS, a Cologne-based startup developing AI software for lawyers and law firms, has raised €13 million in a Series A round led by Semapa Next. NRW.BANK joined as co-investor, while existing backers Acton Capital and HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds also participated.

The company builds legal AI software designed to automate workflows from the first client call to the finished legal brief, with a focus on carrying out legal work rather than only assisting with it. JUPUS says more than 2,000 lawyers now use its platform, and that its AI handles more than 2,000 new cases each day.

The funding comes as law firms face growing workload pressures and staffing constraints, particularly among small and mid-sized practices. JUPUS plans to use the new capital to accelerate growth in a market where demand for workflow automation in legal services continues to rise.
