Granarium Technologies, a deep-tech energy startup spun out of VTT in Espoo, Finland, has raised more than €1 million in pre-seed funding to industrialise its renewable supercapacitor technology.

The round was led by BSV Ventures together with Beamline, with participation from FiBAN, EstBAN and LatBAN. As part of the spinout, VTT transferred the underlying technology and intellectual property to the newly established company.

Granarium is developing supercapacitors made from renewable materials, including forest industry side streams and nanocellulose, for fast power stabilisation in industrial and energy systems. The company says the funding will support the industrialisation of its patented technology for grid stabilisation and industrial applications, as demand grows for fast-response storage to manage electrification, renewable integration and power quality challenges.
